The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced significant organizational changes on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, appointing Member of Parliament Anil Baluni as the new Coordinator for the party's Communication Department. In this new capacity, he will be responsible for establishing coordination between the national media department and the social media unit.

This move is considered a crucial step towards further strengthening the party's communication machinery. Anil Baluni, who previously served as the BJP's National Media Convener, will now expand his responsibilities to oversee the Communication Department. His appointment is expected to foster better synergy and integrated strategy development between the party's national media cell and its social media unit.

New Appointments and Responsibilities

This appointment was made alongside other organizational changes declared by party president Nitin Nabin, which included the appointment of in-charges and co-in-charges for various states. Within the Communication Department, Ashish Usha Agrawal has been appointed as the National Media Convener, previously serving as the co-convener for the national media department.

Anil Baluni, the MP from Uttarakhand's Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, is a leader with extensive experience in the BJP's media and communication sector. He was also assigned responsibility for the media department in the party's national team announced in August 2026. As Coordinator of the Communication Department, his role will focus on harmonizing efforts between media and digital communication to ensure the party effectively conveys its messages to the public.
