Biometric Attendance System Implemented at Lohia Hospital

In compliance with strict directives from the District Magistrate, the Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad commenced its biometric attendance system on Friday, September 18, 2026. This new system aims to effectively curb the tardiness of doctors and medical staff, ensuring patients receive timely treatment.

Immediate Implementation Following Inspection

The decision was implemented with immediate effect following an unannounced inspection of the hospital by the District Magistrate on Thursday. Doctors and other medical personnel began arriving at the biometric machines installed within the hospital premises from 8 AM on Friday to mark their attendance.

System Setup and Initial Challenges

Two biometric machines have been installed in the hospital: one in the Chief Medical Superintendent's office and the other in the Emergency Ward. However, some technical glitches were encountered in the initial phase, leading to difficulties in recording the attendance of certain employees whose names were not yet fed into the database.

Mandatory Biometric Attendance for All Staff

Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Lohia Male Hospital, clarified that biometric attendance is now mandatory for all approximately 250 regular, contractual, and outsourced employees working at the hospital. With the implementation of this new system, the traditional attendance register has been removed from the CMS office.

Ensuring Transparency and Discipline

Hospital administration believes this move is a significant administrative effort towards improving the quality of health services and maintaining workplace discipline. The implementation of this system is expected to bring more transparency and punctuality to the medical services provided to patients.

Addressing Past Issues and Future Expectations

This initiative is not limited to just marking attendance but is anticipated to have a broader impact on hospital operations and the quality of patient care. Previously, complaints of delays in healthcare delivery due to manipulation of attendance registers or late arrival of staff were common. The District Magistrate took these concerns seriously and directed immediate corrective actions.

Technological Solution for Accountability

The biometric system, utilizing technologies like fingerprint or facial recognition, is considered highly effective in preventing fraud. Despite initial technical issues, hospital management has assured that they will be resolved as quickly as possible. Employees are also being encouraged to adapt to this new system and mark their attendance on time.

Enhancing Efficiency and Patient Care

It is expected that in the coming days, this system will function smoothly and elevate the quality of medical services at Lohia Hospital to a new level. This change is anticipated to not only foster punctuality among employees but also increase the overall efficiency of the hospital, ultimately leading to better and timely treatment for patients.
