Biometric System Implemented at Lohia Hospital
In Farrukhabad, the Lohia Male Hospital has officially transitioned to a mandatory biometric attendance system. This decision, stemming from a surprise inspection and stern directives by the District Magistrate, was implemented with immediate effect on Friday.
The new policy has sent ripples of concern among the hospital's approximately 250 regular, contractual, and outsourced employees. Modern biometric machines have replaced the traditional attendance registers throughout the hospital premises.
New System Faces Initial Hurdles
Two machines have been installed at the CMS office and the Emergency Ward, allowing doctors and other staff to register their attendance via fingerprint scans. CMS Dr. Jagmohan Sharma confirmed that the use of manual registers is now entirely prohibited, and adherence to the digital system is compulsory for all personnel.
On the first day of implementation, many employees encountered technical difficulties while attempting to mark their attendance. Several staff members struggled as the machines failed to recognize their fingerprints due to their names not being updated in the system.
Administration Acknowledges Technical Glitches
Hospital administration has acknowledged that a complete update of the database may take some time. However, the district administration's stance remains firm, emphasizing that manual attendance will not be accepted in the future.

The primary objective behind this move is to improve the work culture at the hospital and ensure the punctuality of doctors and other medical staff. The administration believes this will ultimately lead to an enhancement in the quality of healthcare services provided to patients and curb any instances of negligence.
