Municipal Corporation Launches City-Wide Anti-Encroachment Drive

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has initiated a comprehensive campaign against encroachments and illegal constructions throughout the city. On Tuesday, actions were taken in various localities to demolish illegal structures built on government land and confiscate goods from shopkeepers and street vendors occupying roads and footpaths.

Under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Sanskruti Jain, this operation was conducted with the support of the district administration and police force. The anti-encroachment squad based its actions on complaints received through the CM Helpline, call center, and other channels.

Removal of Various Encroachments

During the drive, illegal boundary walls, platforms, and goods placed over drains on government land were removed. This included four-wheeled vehicles, speed breakers, goods displayed outside shops, and extensive encroachments by vegetable, fruit, and clothing vendors, as well as a large number of carts, kiosks, pan parlors, counters, boards, stools, tables, and chairs.

Specific seizures included 10 carts, one pan parlor, one counter, two chairs, and four stools.

Special Action in New Market

A special anti-encroachment drive was conducted in New Market, a prominent commercial hub, in the presence of the district administration and police. The operation, which lasted approximately five hours, saw the removal of encroachments by a significant number of hawkers and shopkeepers.

During this action, 03 trucks of various types of goods were seized, marking a significant step towards improving traffic flow in the area.

Campaigns Across Multiple Areas

The Municipal Corporation's anti-encroachment squad carried out operations in numerous key areas across the city. These included Kolar Garib Nagar, D Mart, Saumya 80 Feet Road, Lalita Nagar, Bhadbhada, Nehru Nagar Square, Bharat Mata Square, Jawahar Chowk, Saraswati Nagar, Link Road Numbers 1, 2, 3, New Market, TT Nagar, Rangmahal, Katju Hospital, Tatya Tope Stadium, Boat Club, Ravindra Bhavan, Lily Talkies, Kali Ji Ka Mandir, Board Office Square, MP Nagar Zone-2, Bawadia Kalan, Bawadia Canal, Aakriti Gate, Ashima Mall, Hoshangabad Road Maple Hotel, Prabhat Square, Ashok Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Hamidia Road, Railway Station Platform Number 6, Sindhi Colony, Kazi Camp, DIG Bungalow, Karond Housing Board, Vishwakarma Nagar, Peepal Chowk, Karond Square, Bhopal Memorial Hospital, Best Price, and many others.

In Kolar Garib Nagar, illegal boundary walls on government land were demolished, and 05 iron pipes were confiscated. In the Ashok Garden and Punjabi Bagh areas, illegal platforms built in front of two houses were razed. At Kazi Camp, a platform constructed over a drain was also demolished.

Additionally, a shop's frame placed on the road in front of Ashok Garden, Hoshangabad Road, Ashima Mall, and Bapu Ki Kutiya was removed. At the Karond Housing Board, illegal partitions placed over a drain were cleared, and in the DIG Bungalow area, two four-wheeled vehicles obstructing traffic were towed away.

This initiative demonstrates the Municipal Corporation's commitment to organizing the city and ensuring smooth movement for its citizens. Similar actions are expected to continue in the future to make the city encroachment-free and clean.
