Rations Worth Lakhs Disappear from Fair Price Shop in Bhind; FIR Filed Against Seller

In a significant development in the public distribution system, a government fair price shop operating in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh has been found to have a substantial discrepancy in its ration stock, amounting to lakhs of rupees. Following strict directives from Collector Pawan Kumar Jain, an FIR has been lodged at the Ater police station against Virendra Singh Yadav, the seller of the Niwari shop run by the Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society in Aharouli Ghat. This action has sent shockwaves among those involved in corrupt practices within the ration distribution system.

Irregularities Unearthed During Surprise Inspection

The matter came to light when a joint team of administrative officials conducted a surprise inspection of the shop on October 25. The inspection team included Tehsildar Rakesh Kumar Imle, Cooperative Extension Officer Ravi Pachauriya, Supply Center In-charge Satish Sharma, and Junior Supply Officer R.B.S. Tomar. The team meticulously compared the data from the shop's e-POS machine with the physically available stock, revealing significant anomalies.

Missing Stock Valued at Over Two Lakh Rupees

According to the investigation report, a total of ₹2,04,420 worth of goods were found missing from the shop. This included:

  • 3240 kg of wheat
  • 1811 kg of rice
  • 134 packets of salt
  • 6 kg of sugar
This extensive loss raises serious questions about the availability of government-subsidized rations. Furthermore, it was also observed that the mandatory public display notice board and stock list were absent from the shop, a clear violation of regulations.

Administration Takes Strict Legal Action

Taking cognizance of the detailed report submitted by the Junior Supply Officer on October 28, the Collector immediately ordered legal proceedings. In compliance with these orders, the police registered a case against the shop seller, Virendra Singh Yadav, on October 31. This decisive action by the administration underscores a zero-tolerance policy towards any irregularities or corruption within the government ration system. Further legal proceedings are underway in this case, and action may be taken against other individuals involved based on the investigation report.
