Police Achieve Major Success in Bareilly Riots Case

The Cantonment police in Bareilly have achieved a significant breakthrough in the riots case that occurred on September 26, 2025. Police have successfully arrested two wanted accused in this serious matter, Rafiq Beg and Mukhtiyar Ahmed, from the Faridapur Chaudhary area.

Both arrested individuals are reportedly 58 years old and are local residents. This arrest highlights the police's vigilance and the accuracy of their informant network. During the ongoing investigation into case number 489/2025 registered at Kotwali police station, a total of 66 accused have been identified so far. Legal action is being taken against all of them under the relevant sections.

Accused Apprehended Based on Tip-off

At 8:35 AM on September 16, 2026, based on precise information received from an informant, a team from the Cantonment police station apprehended the two wanted individuals from a deserted field near Faridapur Chaudhary.

Criminal Histories and Confessions Emerge

Upon checking the police records of the arrested accused, Rafiq Beg was found to have several prior cases registered against him in various police stations, including Kotwali, Prem Nagar, Qila, and Baradari. On the other hand, Mukhtiyar Ahmed's criminal history includes some cases from 2014 and 2004. During preliminary interrogation, both accused admitted to their presence at a meeting held on September 19, 2025.

Furthermore, they confessed to having gone towards Izzat Mian Ground with others during the events of September 26. The police showed the arrested accused video footage related to the riots during their interrogation. Through this footage, the police have succeeded in identifying other rioters and individuals present in the crowd.

Further Investigation and Pursuit

The police team responsible for this significant arrest included Cantonment Police Station In-charge Sanjay Kumar Dheer and other senior police officers. The police administration stated that the search for the remaining absconding wanted accused is ongoing, and intensive operations are being conducted to arrest them as soon as possible.

This arrest is not only a major success for the police but also a crucial step towards the swift resolution of the case.
