Cyber Fraud Network Dismantled, Accused Arrested
The Bareilly Cyber Crime Police have successfully dismantled a cyber fraud network, taking into custody the accused, Shoaib. During an eight-hour custody remand, police interrogated Shoaib and, based on his revelations, recovered several crucial tools used in cybercrime from his rented accommodation.
The recovered items include bank-related documents, debit cards, mobile phones, and two SIM cards. This operation was conducted under case number 58/2026 registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station. Investigations revealed that the gang used to lure young individuals from Delhi with financial incentives and subsequently opened bank accounts in their names using fake addresses.
Modus Operandi and Suspects
The details of these fraudulent accounts were then handed over to an individual based in Badaun, who ultimately utilized them for criminal activities such as cyber fraud. Recent cyber complaints from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, have suggested the involvement of this gang, particularly in a case involving suspicious transactions totaling Rs 1.10 lakh from a UCO Bank account.
Digital evidence and suspicious leads point towards a Nigerian national operating in Delhi as being connected to this criminal network. This Nigerian national is alleged to have been in contact with the gang via WhatsApp. The recovery of these materials was made from a rented room located in Mohalla Sailani, Baradari police station area.
Ongoing Investigation and Future Prevention
Following the successful operation, the accused, Shoaib, has been sent back to district jail. The Bareilly Police team is currently conducting a thorough investigation based on the recovered digital evidence. This operation was led by Inspector Dhananjay Kumar Pandey and his team.
Under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police, this special campaign is being conducted with the aim of curbing cybercrimes, breaking the web of such frauds, and preventing similar offenses in the future.
