Absconding Murder Accused with Reward Arrested After 1.5 Years; Illegal Firearm Recovered

Arrest in 1.5-Year-Old Murder Case

The Mehgaon police station in Bhind district has achieved a significant success by arresting Ramendra Singh, a proclaimed offender carrying a ₹5,000 reward, who had been absconding for the past one and a half years in a murder case. This operation was conducted under a special manhunt launched on the directions of Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma and Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Patel.

Illegal Weapon Seized

During the operation, police recovered an illegal .312 bore country-made pistol (kattah) and a live cartridge from the possession of the accused. This arrest is linked to a murder case registered on March 1, 2025, by Devendra Singh Narwariya, who had lodged a complaint regarding the murder of his brother, Ravindra alias Chutta.

Investigation and Previous Arrests

Following the complaint, the police registered a case against eight accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Previously, the police had arrested other accused in this case and presented them before the court. However, the main accused, Ramendra Singh, had been evading arrest since the incident. The Superintendent of Police had announced a ₹5,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Tip-Off Leads to Arrest

On September 17, 2026, the Mehgaon police received accurate information from an informant that the absconding accused, Ramendra Singh, was heading towards his village, Giskpura. Acting swiftly on this tip-off, the police team raided suspected locations and apprehended the 30-year-old Ramendra Singh.

Confession and Recovery

During intense interrogation, the accused confessed to possessing an illegal weapon, which was subsequently seized by the police. The successful operation involved a team led by Station House Officer Inspector Ravindra Sharma, with commendable contributions from Head Constable Satendra Sharma, Constables Dinesh Mudgal, Udaybhan, and driver Constable Shivkumar Sharma.

Legal Proceedings Underway

The police are currently completing the legal procedures to present the accused before the court, paving the way for further action in the case.
