Accused Arrested in ₹54 Lakh Land Fraud Case
The crime branch of Bareilly and the Bhojipura police station, in a joint operation, have arrested a wanted accused from Meerut for defrauding ₹54 lakh in the name of land sale.
The accused, identified as Pannalal Kashyap, was apprehended on September 14 near the Partapur Metro Station on the Meerut-Ghaziabad highway, along with his Baleno car. This arrest stems from two separate cases involving allegations of fraud, use of forged documents, and threats to kill.
Details of the Cases
The first case was registered on August 8, 2023, based on a complaint by Saim Khan, concerning a ₹25 lakh fraud and the use of a fake Aadhaar card. On the same day, Anil Kumar Singh filed another case reporting a ₹29 lakh fraud. Both cases are currently under investigation by the Bareilly crime branch.
Accused's Background and Recoveries
During police interrogation, the accused, Pannalal Kashyap, claimed to hold B.Tech and LLB degrees. He admitted to being introduced to certain individuals for land deals by a person named Mahipal Yadav about two to three years ago, where he was lured by the prospect of profit. He allegedly resorted to using forged documents during these transactions.
Police recovered two mobile phones, a passport, two license forms for a revolver and a rifle, and a Rado watch from the accused's possession. Preliminary investigations also revealed that Pannalal Kashyap has several other criminal cases registered against him in Bareilly and Ghaziabad.
Further Investigation Underway
According to officials, the police are thoroughly investigating other aspects of the case. Their objective is to identify the roles of other individuals involved in the fraud and apprehend them as well. It is expected that further details about the complete conspiracy and all involved parties will be revealed soon.
