The tragedy struck around 4 AM when a speeding Volvo bus, operated by Gola Bus Service, rear-ended a trailer truck. The bus was carrying approximately 65 passengers and was en route from Delhi to Agra.

Fatal Impact and Rescue Operations

The collision was so severe that the front of the bus was completely mangled. Many passengers were thrown from their seats, sustaining critical injuries, while others were trapped within the wreckage. Initial reports confirm that four passengers died on the spot.

Upon receiving the distress call, emergency services, including local police, SDRF, and fire brigades, rushed to the scene. Rescue teams worked tirelessly to extricate passengers from the damaged bus. 20 to 25 passengers sustained serious injuries and were immediately transported to the district hospital in Mathura for treatment.

Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation

The injured are receiving urgent medical care, with several reported to be in critical condition. The process of identifying the deceased is underway, and authorities are actively attempting to contact their families. Approximately 30-35 passengers who were unhurt have been accommodated in alternative vehicles to continue their journeys.

The accident caused a temporary disruption to traffic on the Yamuna Expressway. Authorities have since cleared the wreckage and restored normal movement. Police presence has been increased to ensure order.

Causes Under Scrutiny

Preliminary investigations suggest that the primary cause of the accident may have been excessive speed and a loss of control by the bus driver. However, a comprehensive inquiry is being conducted, examining all potential factors, including the vehicle's mechanical condition and prevailing road conditions.

Authorities have stated that the confirmed reasons for the accident will be released following the submission of a detailed investigation report.

The administration is facilitating communication with the families of the deceased and has made special arrangements for the care of the injured. Some critically injured individuals may be referred to higher medical facilities if necessary.

This tragic event has once again brought to the forefront issues of speed limits and road safety measures on the Yamuna Expressway. Local residents and travelers are calling for stricter speed enforcement and enhanced surveillance to prevent future occurrences.
