Actor, doctor, and transgender activist Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju has voiced strong disapproval regarding comments made by Orry on gender-neutral bathrooms. The remarks, shared during a recent podcast with content creator Kavya Karnatac, quickly went viral across social media platforms.

Clips from Karnatac's podcast, Learn By KK Create, showed Orry questioning the concept of gender-neutral facilities. He expressed notable concerns about women potentially sharing such spaces with men, sparking an immediate and widespread debate online.

"I just want to say one thing to every podcast host. Please stop bringing guests onto your show if they are not a subject matter expert and if they have no lived experience on the topic,"

she stated directly in her post. Trinetra further accused the podcast discussion of actively spreading misinformation about the actual demands of transgender people.

Advocating for Safe, Inclusive Facilities

Trinetra also shared her deeply personal journey as a transgender woman to underscore the difficulties faced. She recounted developing Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) during medical school because she was unable to safely use either male or female restrooms, leading her to avoid drinking water.

She meticulously clarified that activists are not demanding the removal of existing male and female washrooms. Instead, the core request is for the provision of a safe third option.

"No one is asking for only gender-neutral restrooms. What people are asking for is a safe place to go to the restroom other than male and female restrooms. People want all three, not just one,"

Trinetra emphasized.

 

In her Instagram caption directly addressing Kavya Karnatac, Trinetra wrote,

"So, so irresponsible of you. Please do better. This seriously brings your credibility into question."

She added,

"No one's asking your daughters to share restrooms with men. The ask is simple — that everyone have access to use a safe restroom. If that means male, female and a third neutral restroom for everyone's safety, so be it."
