New Ministers Join Cabinet

Vanni Arasu and AM Shahjahan were sworn in as ministers on Friday.

The ceremony took place at Lok Bhavan in Chennai, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administering the oath.

These inductions follow recommendations from CM Vijay and approval from the Governor.

Representation and Portfolio Allocations

Vanni Arasu represents the Tindivanam Assembly constituency (VCK). Shahjahan represents the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) from Papanasam.

This expansion follows a major cabinet reshuffle and expansion the previous day.

B Rajkumar is assigned the Housing and Urban Development portfolio. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban A now heads the Transport Ministry.

RV Ranjithkumar takes charge as Forest Minister. V Sampath Kumar is allocated the Backward Classes Welfare portfolio.

V Gandhiraj was made Co-operation Minister.

Current Cabinet Composition

The cabinet has 33 ministers. Two portfolios, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare and Minorities Welfare, remain vacant.

Tamil Nadu is the second state after Kerala to create a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) department at the cabinet level.

CM Vijay retains key portfolios including Home, Police, Municipal Administration and Water Supply.

Other Major Allocations

K Jegadeshwari is now Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, taking over the Women Welfare portfolio from the CM's office.

N Marie Wilson from Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar has been appointed Finance Minister.

Senior leader KA Sengottaiyan has been given the Revenue department.

Historical Significance and Inclusivity

The cabinet includes Congress MLAs S Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan, making it the first coalition government cabinet formed in Tamil Nadu since Independence.
