High-Level Talks Chart New Course for India-Moldova Relations

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu held high-level talks with President Maia Sandu in Chisinau during her historic state visit to Moldova. The meeting, held on Monday, is being considered a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between India and Moldova.

This marks the first official visit by an Indian President to Moldova, with the objective of further strengthening India's strategic, economic, and cultural ties with this Eastern European nation. President Murmu was accorded a state welcome by Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

Following this, a detailed delegation-level talk was held between the two countries, where various bilateral issues were discussed in depth. Addressing a joint press conference after the talks, both leaders reiterated their strong commitment to taking India-Moldova relations to new heights.

New Horizons of Cooperation: From Trade to Digital Transformation

The talks between the presidents of the two countries placed special emphasis on promoting trade and investment. Agreement was reached on expanding cooperation in crucial sectors such as Information Technology, digital transformation, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, education, and capacity building.

Both sides also agreed to further strengthen political dialogue and identify new potential areas of cooperation. The primary objective of this discussion was to deepen the multi-faceted partnership between the two nations.

Part of a Strategic Tour

President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Moldova is a key component of her three-nation state tour to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania, which is scheduled from July 19 to July 25. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the aim of this comprehensive tour is to provide new momentum to India's strategic, economic, and cultural relations with Eastern European countries.

This visit represents an active step towards strengthening India's diplomatic and business engagement with these nations.
