Bhopal | July 20, 2026 – The state government of Madhya Pradesh has assured farmers regarding the availability of fertilizer and seeds for the Kharif season. In a statement delivered in the Assembly, Cooperation Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang stated that adequate stocks of fertilizers and seeds have been ensured across the state.

He emphasized that the state government gives the highest priority to the interests of farmers and that, despite the apprehension of less rainfall, farmers will not face any difficulties. Minister Sarang highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is an agricultural state and, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the government is continuously striving to provide a new direction to the development of the agricultural sector.

This year is being celebrated as "Krishi Kalyan Varsh" (Agricultural Welfare Year), under which 16 different departments related to agriculture have been integrated to operate schemes and activities for the welfare of farmers.

Suboptimal Rainfall and Government Monitoring

A situation of suboptimal rainfall currently prevails in the state, which the government is closely monitoring. According to meteorological department data, there has been approximately a 16 percent deficit in average rainfall across the state.

Currently, only the Alirajpur district has been identified as a district affected by suboptimal rainfall. The government is continuously monitoring the situation in affected areas and is prepared to take necessary steps. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has convened two high-level review meetings, understanding the seriousness of the rainfall deficit, and has issued necessary directives.

A public awareness campaign is also being conducted to disseminate accurate and timely information to farmers.

Transparency in Distribution through e-Vikas Portal

To bring complete transparency to the fertilizer and seed distribution system, monitoring is being carried out through the e-Vikas portal. The government has taken strict action against the black marketing of fertilizers and any form of irregularities.

Under this action, 10 licenses have been revoked so far, while FIRs have been registered in 16 cases. This move reflects the government's commitment to providing quality materials to farmers at fair prices.

Adequate Stock of Urea and Seeds

The Cooperation Minister assured the House that 5.48 lakh metric tons of urea are available in the state, and there is no shortage. Additionally, the process of seed production and distribution through the Seed Corporation is proceeding smoothly.

Currently, a stock of 27 lakh metric tons of seeds is available, which is sufficient to meet the entire needs of the state's farmers. He also informed that this year, 520 lakh tons of grain have arrived in the state, which is approximately 15 percent more than the previous year. This figure is a testament to the hard work of the state's farmers and the positive changes occurring in the agricultural sector.

Emphasis on Soil Testing and Crop Insurance

Scientific facilities are being provided to assist farmers in achieving better yields. Through soil testing labs, 16 lakh soil samples have been examined so far, enabling farmers to cultivate according to the quality of their land.

In the year 2025, 11,54,000 farmers were provided with the benefits of the crop insurance scheme. The government is continuously striving to ensure the financial security of farmers and to compensate for losses incurred due to natural calamities.

Government's Resolve for Farmer Welfare

Shri Sarang stated that Madhya Pradesh ranks second in the country in terms of food grain production. The state government's main objective is to make agriculture more modern, profitable, and sustainable.

He emphasized that farmers are the backbone of the state's economy and solving their problems is the government's primary responsibility. He expressed confidence that in the coming times, Madhya Pradesh will establish itself as an exemplary state for the entire country in the agricultural sector.

The government is fully committed to providing timely fertilizers, quality seeds, technical assistance, and other essential facilities to farmers. There is no shortage of fertilizers and seeds in the state, and farmers need not worry about any kind of issues. The government stands with the farmers in every circumstance and is continuously striving to take the state to new heights through agricultural development.
