Major Breakthrough in Arms Smuggling Crackdown
The Khargone Police have achieved a significant success in their special campaign against illegal arms trafficking. They have arrested Banti Sikligar (32 years old), a proclaimed offender carrying a reward of Rs 10,000, who had been on the run for approximately a year. Sikligar, a resident of village Singun in Thana Gogawa, had been evading police in a case related to the smuggling of illegal country-made pistols.
Ongoing Special Operation Yields Results
The arrest was made as part of a special operation directed by Inspector General of Police, Indore Zone, Anurag, and Deputy Inspector General, Nimar Range, Ms. Simala Prasad, aimed at apprehending absconding criminals. The operation in Thana Jaitapur was conducted under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Bittu Sehgal.
Key Accused in Arms Smuggling Network
According to information received by the police, the main accused in the arms smuggling case was identified as Banti Sikligar. In 2025, police in Thana Jaitapur had arrested Jagwinder Singh and Veerpal Singh from Jalandhar district, Punjab, in connection with a case of illegal country-made pistol smuggling. During interrogation, these two revealed that they used to purchase weapons from Banti Sikligar of Khargone district and sell them in Punjab.
Further Investigations Underway
Since this revelation, Banti Sikligar had been evading arrest, leading to the announcement of a Rs 10,000 reward for his capture. The Khargone Police are currently interrogating the arrested Banti Sikligar. Authorities are hopeful that he will provide crucial information regarding the supply chain of illegal weapons and other individuals involved in the network. This arrest is considered a major blow to the network of illegal arms manufacturing and smuggling active in the Khargone district. Further investigation by the police is ongoing.
