Farrukhabad Municipal Council on Alert for Waterlogging Prevention, Monitoring 22.7 km of Drains

Monsoon Preparedness Intensified

In anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season, the Farrukhabad Municipal Council has accelerated its preparations to combat waterlogging issues within the city. Following directives from the District Magistrate, a comprehensive inspection of 16 major drains in the municipal area has been conducted to ensure the drainage system remains efficient.

The primary objective of this initiative is to shield citizens from the inconvenconveniences caused by waterlogging. A team comprising supervisors and nodal officers, appointed by the Municipal Council, found during their site inspections that water flow in most drains is normal and unobstructed. No permanent blockages were identified anywhere.

Drainage System Assessment

However, floating debris was found accumulated in some drains, which is being continuously removed by the Municipal Council's JCB machines. Officials have stated that the drainage system is being effectively maintained through regular cleaning and intensive monitoring.

Inspections Cover Key Areas

The Executive Officer of the Municipal Council visited several crucial areas, including Madarwadi, Ganganagar, Chhedachun Wali Gali, Tale'ya Fazal Imam, and Lalsarai, for drain inspection and improvement work. Waterlogging issues were found to be negligible in most of these locations during these inspections.

In certain areas like Madarwadi and Chhedachun Wali Gali, minor temporary waterlogging occurred due to light rainfall, which subsided automatically within about half an hour after the rain stopped. This indicates that the current drainage system is largely effective.

Continuous Monitoring of 22.7 km Drains

The Municipal Council has reported that cleaning and monitoring work is being regularly carried out on the 16 major drains spanning approximately 22.7 kilometers across the entire municipal area. Clear instructions have been issued to the concerned officials and staff to remain vigilant at all times to further enhance the effectiveness of the drainage system.

The administration is committed to ensuring that the city's drainage system functions smoothly throughout the monsoon season.

Plea for Citizen Cooperation

The Municipal Council administration has also appealed to citizens for their cooperation in this effort. Residents are urged not to throw any kind of garbage or other waste material into the drains, as this obstructs water flow. The administration believes that with the combined efforts of public cooperation and continuous monitoring, waterlogging issues can be effectively managed during the monsoon, providing relief to citizens.
