Farrukhabad Launches Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccination Drive for Four Lakh Animals from July 22

Mass Vaccination Campaign Against FMD Begins

Farrukhabad, July 20, 2026 – To safeguard livestock in the Farrukhabad district from the contagious Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), a special vaccination campaign is set to launch on July 22, 2026. This initiative, operating under the National Animal Disease Control Programme, will continue until September 8, 2026.

During the campaign, approximately four lakh cattle and other eligible animals within the district will receive free FMD vaccinations. Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Sharma, Chief Veterinary Officer, confirmed the campaign's readiness, stating that the Department of Animal Husbandry has completed all necessary arrangements for its successful execution.

Campaign Logistics and Objectives

A total of 25 veterinary hospitals across the district's seven development blocks have been designated as centers for this extensive vaccination effort. To ensure the campaign's success, specialized vaccination teams, led by veterinary and livestock extension officers, have been formed. These teams will visit villages according to a set schedule to administer the vaccines.

The department's primary objective is to protect a significant number of animals from the devastating FMD and to maintain the district's livestock population in a healthy and productive state. Animal owners are urged to cooperate with these teams and ensure their animals receive the free vaccinations, thereby preventing the spread of serious diseases like FMD.
