Late-Night Raid Uncovers Illegal Operation

In a late-night operation on Thursday, Bhopal police unearthed an alleged illegal slaughterhouse operating under the guise of a dairy in Kamal Nagar, Nishatpura. The raid followed a tip-off from approximately 20 workers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, who informed authorities around midnight.

Police responded swiftly, raiding the premises and arresting three individuals: Aziz, his son Asif, and son-in-law Zubair. Two other alleged accomplices reportedly fled the scene and are currently being sought by the police.

Beef, Carcasses, and Weapons Seized

During the search, officers recovered a large quantity of alleged beef, a cow carcass, and various sharp weapons including knives and axes, commonly used in slaughter. Other tools and materials linked to the alleged illegal activity were also found at the site.

Initial investigations suggest that the dairy was merely a front to conceal the long-running illegal cattle slaughter business. Police have taken the recovered materials for testing as part of their ongoing probe.

Allegations of Buried Bones and Cattle Theft

Abhishek Sharma, a VHP official, alleged that the accused would bury cow bones in a nearby field to hide their illegal activities. He claimed that digging tools were also found at the site. Police confirmed these allegations would be part of the investigation and promised to examine the field for animal remains, which would then be sent for forensic testing.

The incident has also brought to light a surge in cattle theft in the area. Local resident Satendra claimed that four of his cows were stolen in the past three months and identified the recovered cow as his. He has filed a complaint at Nishatpura police station, linking the alleged illegal slaughterhouse to the broader issue of stolen livestock.

Demand for NSA and Broader Investigation

Following the arrests, a large number of VHP and Bajrang Dal activists gathered at the Nishatpura police station, demanding that the stringent National Security Act (NSA) be imposed on the accused. They emphasized the need for strict action against such crimes that disrupt social peace. Police officials assured them of a fair and rigorous investigation.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the dairy was operating on encroached government land," stated Nishatpura Station House Officer Manoj Patwa. "Information has been sent to the district administration for anti-encroachment action."

The police are also investigating the entire supply chain, including the source of the cattle, who supplied them, and the distribution network for the allegedly prepared meat. Evidence is being collected from various angles to dismantle this entire network.

What to Watch Next

The police are actively searching for the two absconding suspects, whose arrest is expected to yield more significant revelations in the case. Further forensic reports on the recovered materials are awaited, and the investigation into the alleged encroachment and the broader supply network will continue. Local residents will be observing the progress of the cattle theft investigations and the promised anti-encroachment drive.
