Viral Buffalo Saved

A rare albino buffalo in Bangladesh, known as 'Donald Trump' due to its blond tuft of hair, was rescued from Eid al-Adha sacrifice after a last-minute intervention by the government.

The buffalo, weighing nearly 700 kg, had been sold for ritual slaughter before authorities stepped in, citing security concerns and a surge in public interest.

Government Intervention

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed ordered the buffalo be spared, the buyer refunded, and the animal moved to the national zoo in Dhaka.

"At the last moment, the decision was taken to spare the buffalo from sacrifice due to security concerns and the unusual level of public interest,"

said a ministry official.

Rise to Fame

The buffalo became a nationwide attraction after videos of it went viral on social media. Large crowds gathered at the farm in Narayanganj, near Dhaka, to see the animal.

Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said his younger brother gave the buffalo the nickname because its blond fringe resembled US President Donald Trump's hairstyle.

Albino Buffalo Rarity

Albino buffaloes are extremely rare in Bangladesh. Their unique appearance results from albinism, a genetic condition that prevents melanin production.

Because of their rarity, they often attract public curiosity, especially during the Eid livestock market season.

New Home

The buffalo has been placed under the care of authorities and moved to Dhaka’s national zoo, where it is expected to remain as a special attraction.

What to Watch Next

The buffalo's integration into the Dhaka National Zoo will be closely monitored, and its health and well-being will be of paramount importance. Public response to the animal's presence at the zoo will also be observed to assess its long-term impact.
