AAP Protests in Support of Sonam Wangchuk

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed solidarity with social activist Sonam Wangchuk on Monday, staging a robust demonstration outside the Etawah District Collectorate against the central government. Party workers raised serious questions regarding the government's policies in light of recent events and the challenges faced by the nation's youth, particularly concerning paper leaks and escalating unemployment.

Demands for Resignation and Criticism of Government Stance

A prominent demand during the protest was the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The AAP's District President, Sanjeev Shakya, who led the demonstration, heavily criticized the central government's attitude. He stated that the treatment meted out to Sonam Wangchuk at Delhi's Jantar Mantar was a clear indication of the arrogance of power.

Shakya asserted that this is not the first instance where an attempt has been made to suppress the voices of farmers, women, and now the youth. This time too, the peaceful protest was attempted to be crushed through the use of batons and tear gas.

He emphasized that in a democracy, voicing one's opinion peacefully is the constitutional right of every citizen, and it is the government's duty to protect this right. The protest saw party workers chanting slogans against the central government, and they submitted a memorandum to the district administration outlining their demands.

Concern Over Youth Issues and Paper Leaks

Sanjeev Shakya expressed deep concern over the current situation of the country's youth. He highlighted that the nation's youth are grappling with unemployment, and their future is becoming increasingly bleak due to the continuous paper leak incidents in recruitment examinations.

According to Shakya, the movement led by Sonam Wangchuk during such a grave crisis is a powerful symbol of the youth's suffering and deep anxiety about their future.

He added that the government does not appear to be taking these issues seriously, despite their critical importance for nation-building. The party reiterated its commitment to continue their protest until the government takes concrete steps to protect the interests of the youth.
