Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has once again become the center of social media chatter after sharing a post referencing a High Court ruling on alimony. Fans quickly linked it to his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma, reigniting discussions about the couple’s split earlier this year.
The Post That Got Fans Talking
Chahal shared a screenshot of a court judgment stating, “Financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands.” Accompanying it, he wrote in Hindi, “Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Seh” — translating to a playful warning to honor the court’s decision.
Although the post was deleted shortly after, it had already gone viral. Social media users debated whether it was a personal message to Dhanashree or a broader comment supporting the legal ruling. Memes and reactions flooded platforms, with some praising Chahal’s “savage” humor while others urged him to move on gracefully.
The timing of the post coincided with a lighthearted Instagram reel featuring Chahal, former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, and influencer Sophie Shine. In the video, Dhawan jokingly tells Chahal, “Teri bhi shaadi karva denge beta,” prompting laughter among fans. The reel highlighted Chahal’s continued penchant for humor despite his personal life being under scrutiny.
The Divorce and Alimony Context
Chahal and Verma, who married in December 2020, parted ways in March 2025, following proceedings at the Bombay High Court. Media reports suggested a settlement of around ₹4 crore, though neither party publicly confirmed the figure.
Dhanashree has previously addressed alimony rumors, emphasizing that their separation was mutual and that financial demands were never an issue. During an interview with Rise and Fall, she stated:
“Officially, it has been almost a year. It happened quickly because it was mutual. That’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong. Eventually, you get hurt when you see that happening. None of it is true. I will always keep his respect, that is what I believe in.”
She also opened up about a past social media incident involving Chahal’s T-shirt, which had left her surprised and embarrassed. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, she recounted the moment:
“Even before this T-shirt stunt happened, we were aware that people would blame me. It was a shaky moment of your life, and you know people are going to blame you only. I was shocked when I saw what he had worn.”
Life After Separation
Despite the online speculation, both Chahal and Verma continue to focus on their individual pursuits. Chahal remains active on social media, engaging fans with his humor and cricket updates, while Dhanashree has emphasized maintaining dignity and privacy in her post-marriage life.
The couple’s story serves as a reminder of the fine line public figures walk between personal privacy and social media scrutiny.
