Heartbreaking Denial of Last Rites on Hospital Grounds

A deeply distressing incident has emerged from Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, where 31-year-old Pooja Rajak, who was suffering from cancer, was unable to receive a final farewell at her rented residence. After succumbing to the illness during treatment at the district hospital, the landlord refused to allow the body to be brought home, citing the ongoing Navratri festival.

In this dire situation, the grieving family was compelled to perform the final rituals in an open space within the hospital premises. Pooja, daughter of Pahlan Rajak from Badarwas, had been undergoing treatment at the Guna District Hospital for some time. This situation proved exceptionally challenging for the family, who were already struggling with financial hardship.

Social Support Facilitates Final Rituals

Even the rented accommodation, where the family had been living for four years in Ghosipura, did not offer refuge for their daughter's mortal remains. Following the landlord's refusal and observing the family's helplessness, local social workers Pramod Bhargav and cow protector Ram Singh Rajak extended a helping hand. With their assistance, Pooja's final adornments and farewell ceremonies were conducted in the open compound near the hospital's mortuary.

Relatives bid their daughter a tearful goodbye under the open sky, a sight that further amplified the poignancy of the event. The family's inability to perform these sacred rites in the privacy of their home has raised serious questions about societal empathy and humanitarian values.

Husband's Remarriage and Children's Uncertain Future

According to information, Pooja was married a few years ago to Rakesh Lashkari from Indore. Relatives have made serious allegations that her husband remarried and separated Pooja from her marital home when she fell ill. A complaint of assault had also been registered previously in this regard.

After her death, the husband and his second wife arrived from Indore to Guna and participated in the ceremonies at the hospital complex. Pooja's untimely demise has left her three young children orphaned, and their future casts a shadow of concern over the family. This incident has plunged the entire region into mourning and has cast a grim light on human compassion.
