The highly anticipated Yash-starrer, 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups', has witnessed a steep decline in its box office performance on Thursday, its second day of release. After an impressive opening day exceeding ₹100 crore, the film's collections saw a substantial drop, raising questions about its sustained box office momentum.
According to industry data tracking portal Sacnilk, 'Toxic' reportedly collected ₹37.65 crore nett in India on Thursday. This brings the film's two-day total India gross collections to ₹165.85 crore, with net collections standing at ₹138.75 crore. The Hindi version of the film accounted for ₹24.25 crore nett on day two, while the Kannada version contributed ₹8.50 crore nett and the Telugu dubbed version added approximately ₹3 crore nett.
Box Office Performance Analysis
'Toxic' recorded an occupancy rate of approximately 26.6% across 19,413 shows on its second day. The film's collections on Thursday fell by around 64% compared to its opening day figure of ₹101 crore nett. This significant drop places it in contrast to other major releases.
With its ₹101 crore nett opening, 'Toxic' had secured the second-biggest domestic opening for an Indian film in 2026, trailing only behind 'Dhurandhar 2', which debuted with ₹103 crore nett. However, the film's second-day performance has drawn direct comparisons with Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'.
Comparison with Competitors
'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', which was originally slated for a clash with 'Toxic', reportedly earned a formidable ₹80.72 crore on its second day. This figure is more than double 'Toxic's' reported ₹36.40 crore for the same day. Within its first two days, 'Dhurandhar 2' accumulated ₹226 crore nett in India, including ₹102.55 crore on day one and ₹43 crore from premieres.
Despite the sharp decline, 'Toxic' did perform better on its second day than the first installment of the 'Dhurandhar' franchise, which garnered ₹32 crore on its second day. The film continues to show strength in international markets, earning an additional ₹8.00 crore on its second day, bringing its total overseas gross to ₹24.25 crore. Consequently, the worldwide gross collection for 'Toxic' now stands at ₹190.10 crore.
Star Cast and Direction
'Toxic', directed by Geetu Mohandas, features a prominent cast including Yash in the lead role, alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria in key roles.
