Woman's Condition Worsens Post-Surgery at Lilawati Hospital, Allegations of Negligence Surface

Patient's Condition Deteriorates After Surgery

A serious incident has come to light involving Suraksha Yadav, a resident of Gram Jami in the Malavar area, approximately 12 kilometers from Narsinghgarh. Her condition suddenly worsened after undergoing surgery at Lilawati Hospital. The woman's family has accused the hospital management and doctors of gross negligence in her treatment and has demanded an impartial investigation.

According to information, Suraksha Yadav was brought to Lilawati Hospital in Narsinghgarh by her husband, Vinod Yadav, due to a bleeding problem. The family alleges that on August 6th, while undergoing treatment, her condition severely deteriorated during surgery. The hospital management promptly referred the woman to Bhopal.

Serious Allegations of Damage to Uterus and Internal Organs

The family claims that during the surgery, Suraksha Yadav's uterus and other surrounding internal organs suffered severe damage. The family also stated that the woman's condition became so critical that she had to be immediately admitted to a senior hospital in Bhopal, where specialist doctors treated her. The Bhopal doctors have also expressed serious concern about Suraksha Yadav's future possibility of bearing children.

Suraksha Yadav is already a mother to one child. The fear of being unable to become a mother again in the future has caused deep shock to her and her entire family, leaving them extremely distressed mentally.

Allegations of Sudden Operation Instead of External Specialist

The victim woman's husband, Vinod Yadav, stated that they were charged approximately ₹12,000 for the treatment at Lilawati Hospital. The family alleges that they were initially assured that an external specialist doctor would be called for the treatment. However, later, Suraksha Yadav was suddenly operated on at the hospital itself.

The family has questioned the educational qualifications and experience level of the doctor who performed the operation. They also questioned why a local doctor performed the surgery if an external specialist was supposed to be called. The family specifically demanded a thorough investigation into the roles of Dr. Amreen Ali Khan and the hospital management.

However, these serious allegations have not yet been independently confirmed.

Hospital Dispute and Police Involvement

Upon arriving at the hospital with their complaint, the family alleged that instead of being heard, a dispute situation arose. The family claims that they were allegedly manhandled and asked to leave the hospital. Following this unpleasant situation, the family immediately contacted Dial-112 for police assistance and informed the police about the matter. The family has also sought protection from the local police station in-charge.

The Yadav community is also preparing to submit a memorandum to the health department demanding an impartial investigation into this case.

Health Department Investigation Underway

This case has now reached the level of the local Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO). The CMHO of the local Civil Hospital, Dr. Rajendra Ahirwar, stated that the matter will be investigated. It will be clarified only after the investigation report is received whether any medical negligence occurred during the woman's treatment and surgery.

Hospital Management Calls Allegations 'Minor'

In this regard, an attempt was made to get the media's perspective from the Director of Lilawati Hospital, Monica Saini, but she reportedly disconnected the call before the conversation could begin. Unofficially, the hospital management has stated that this matter is not a big issue. However, in light of the serious allegations made by the family, the hospital management's detailed response during the investigation will be crucial.

Past Incidents Also Being Mentioned

Local residents and the woman's family are also referring to some past incidents related to this hospital. These past incidents include the alleged death of a pregnant woman during childbirth and, in another case, alleged damage to a woman's internal organ during treatment of the uterus.

These previous allegations have also not been independently confirmed, and their truth can only be revealed through the concerned investigation and official records. Currently, the case of Suraksha Yadav has once again raised serious questions about the quality of healthcare services for women in private hospitals, the medical qualifications of surgeons, surgical procedures, and the referral system in emergency situations. It now depends on the health department's investigation how true the family's allegations prove to be and who will be responsible if any rules have been violated at any level.
