West Central Railway Holds Grand Sports Festival on National Sports Day

On the occasion of National Sports Day, the West Central Railway Sports Association, Jabalpur, organized a grand sports festival at Rail Saurabh Officer's Club on Saturday. The event featured various sports competitions, and outstanding players were honored.

The festival was graced by the presence of West Central Railway General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh as the chief guest. Railway officials, employees, players, and their families participated enthusiastically in the event. Commencing at 7 AM, the festival aimed to foster sportsmanship among railway employees and their families, inspire a healthy lifestyle, and highlight the significance of National Sports Day.

Promoting Fitness and Sportsmanship

The program began with the distribution of caps and encouragement for the players. Subsequently, General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh flagged off the Walkathon, where railway employees and players enthusiastically participated, carrying the message of a healthy and active lifestyle.

The sports competitions, including basketball, table tennis, and badminton, were major attractions. Players and employees of West Central Railway showcased their athletic talents in these various contests. They demonstrated not only individual skills but also excellent teamwork and sportsmanship, promoting healthy competition and passion for sports.

Honoring Excellence and Inspiring Future Athletes

During the festival, West Central Railway honored talented players who have brought laurels to the railways at international and national levels. Their exceptional performances and achievements were recognized and applauded. Additionally, prizes were awarded to winners and runners-up in various sports competitions, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.

This felicitation ceremony served as a source of inspiration for the athletes and encouraged other employees to participate in sports. General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh extended his warm wishes to all players and participants on National Sports Day. He emphasized the multifaceted importance of sports, stating that they cultivate discipline, teamwork, confidence, and a spirit of healthy competition in individuals.

Mr. Singh motivated the players to continuously practice, refine their skills, and achieve success at higher levels. He appreciated the efforts being made to promote sports activities within West Central Railway and stressed that sports are not just a means of competition but an integral part of a healthy and balanced life.

The General Manager reiterated the pledge of 'Khel Gaya Bharat, Jeetega Bharat' (India Plays, India Wins) and appealed to everyone to incorporate sports into their daily lives. He advised dedicating at least one hour daily to sports or any physical activity to foster a healthy workforce.

Community Participation and Cultural Evening

The event saw participation from officials of the Income Tax Department, Indian Army, and Police Department, making the occasion more inclusive and community-oriented. Following the conclusion of the sports competitions, the West Central Railway Cultural Academy presented a captivating cultural program featuring patriotic songs, filling the atmosphere with patriotism and joy.

Remembering Major Dhyan Chand on National Sports Day

National Sports Day is celebrated every year on August 29th, the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This day is dedicated to promoting sports in India and honoring the contributions of athletes. The sports festival organized by West Central Railway symbolized this spirit, aiming to increase interest and awareness in sports and promote a healthy, active, and disciplined lifestyle.

Several senior officials from various departments attended the event, including Additional General Manager Pramod Kumar Khatri, Principal Chief Safety Officer Manoj Gurumukhi, Senior Deputy General Manager Neeraj Kumar, Principal Chief Operating Manager Rajesh Kumar Mandal, Principal Chief Commercial Manager Arvind Kumar Rajak, Principal Chief Security Commissioner Rajiv Kumar Yadav, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) M.S. Hashmi, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction/RSP) Alok Kumar Mishra, and Secretary to General Manager J.P. Singh. Major K.B. Thapa from the Indian Army also graced the occasion.

All sports activities were conducted under the able guidance of West Central Railway Sports Association President Manoj Gurumukhi and General Secretary Gyan Prakash Shivnarayan. A large number of railway employees and players, along with senior officials from headquarters and divisions, actively participated. Notably, members of the West Central Railway Women's Welfare Organization and their children also enthusiastically participated in various sports activities, further strengthening awareness about sports within railway families and elevating the event to new heights.
