Accused Arrested After Police Action

In a significant operation within the Bhuta police station area of Bareilly, police have arrested an accused who was wanted in a case registered under rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused had been evading arrest for some time.

Acting on a precise tip-off from an informant, police cordoned off the area near Udaipur bridge and apprehended the suspect. The First Information Report (FIR) for this case was filed on September 16, 2026, initially under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Following the recovery of the victim, her statement, and the medical examination report, police added sections of the POCSO Act to the case. Additionally, Sections 87 and 64(2)(m) of the Indian Penal Code were also incorporated.

Accused Identified and Confesses

The arrested accused has been identified as Sompal, 24, son of Lekhraj Sharma. He is reportedly a resident of Lavakheda Badriprasad village in the Nawabganj police station area.

During police interrogation, Sompal confessed that he used to work in a nursery in Jaipur. He stated that some of his relatives lived in the victim's village, which led to his frequent visits there. The accused claimed that the victim had asked him for money to buy a phone, after which she went with him to Jaipur.

The police have obtained a confession of guilt from the accused.

Further Legal Proceedings Underway

A team led by Sub-Inspector Rishi Mitra and Constable Ajay Kumar has taken the accused Sompal into custody. Legal procedures against the arrested individual are being completed by the police.

Preparations are being made to produce the accused before the court. The police are actively engaged in gathering further evidence and expediting the ongoing investigation in this matter.
