Tragic Incident at BSNL Factory

Jabalpur witnessed a shocking incident at the BSNL Telecom Factory premises on September 3, 2026, when a wall unexpectedly collapsed during the demolition of a dilapidated shed. The incident tragically killed two workers who were caught in the debris.

Congress Demands Justice and Compensation

In response to this grave incident, officials from the Nagar Congress Committee submitted a memorandum to the Deputy General Manager, Mr. R.N. Yadav. The memorandum calls for appropriate compensation for the families of the deceased workers and urges for strict legal action against those responsible for the tragedy.

Allegations of Negligence

Led by Congress spokesperson Rizwan Ali Koti, the memorandum highlighted that the incident is a clear indication of the gross neglect of essential safety arrangements and precautions at the worksite. The officials emphasized that any compromise on worker safety is unacceptable.

Call for Investigation and Criminal Charges

The Congress has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident and the filing of criminal cases, such as murder or culpable homicide not amounting to murder, against individuals found negligent. They assert that poor workers toil to support their families, making it the moral and legal responsibility of the concerned department and the contractor to provide a safe working environment.

Ensuring Future Safety Standards

To prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate events, Congress stressed the importance of strict adherence to safety standards in all contract works undertaken by BSNL. Numerous other officials and workers, including Shishir Nahoria, Asif Iqbal, Badal Panjwani, Kapil Bhojak, Sagar Shukla, Rahul Rajak, Taufiq Chanki, Ejaz Ansari, Adnan Ansari, Shafi Khan, Latif Ansari, Adeel Sayyed, Tanishk Rai, Nadeem Rain, and Zafar Khan, were present, underscoring the severity of the situation and advocating for immediate measures.
