VinFast VF6 & VF7 secure 5-star Bharat NCAP rating: Vietnamese EVs score high in adult and child safety

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has achieved a major breakthrough in the Indian market even before its large-scale retail push. The company’s two upcoming electric SUVs — VF6 and VF7 — have both received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, India’s newest vehicle safety evaluation program.

This makes VinFast one of the few foreign EV brands to earn the top rating across both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories.

What Bharat NCAP found

According to the Bharat NCAP report, both SUVs showed:

🔹 Strong structural integrity

The body shell of both VF6 and VF7 remained stable during crash simulations, an important factor for high-speed impact survival.

🔹 High adult safety performance

The EVs performed exceptionally well in frontal and side-impact crash tests, earning top AOP scores.

🔹 Excellent child protection

Both models achieved 5-star COP ratings, thanks to ISOFIX anchorage, well-designed child seat compatibility, and stable restraint systems.

About the two EVs

VinFast VF6

Compact electric SUV

Targeted at urban buyers

Offers advanced safety features including ADAS, multiple airbags, and active collision alerts

VinFast VF7

A larger, premium electric SUV

Positioned for family buyers

Includes upgraded structural strength, extended range options, and enhanced driver-assist systems

Why this matters for India’s EV market

VinFast is preparing its India entry with an EV plant coming up in Tamil Nadu. Securing a 5-star Bharat NCAP certification boosts the company’s credibility in a market increasingly focused on safety and EV reliability.

Analysts say the top rating could give VinFast a competitive edge against established rivals like Tata, Mahindra, MG, and Hyundai.
