Protest Erupts Over Sick Cow Incident
Local villagers in Rachedi, Bhind district, became enraged on October 1, 2026, after a sick cow was found near the Municipal Corporation's trenching ground. The irate residents blocked the path of municipal garbage vehicles heading towards the site, creating a tense situation.
Villagers accused municipal employees of discarding the cow onto the road while it was still alive. This protest led to a complete halt in the movement of garbage trucks.
Officials Intervene to Resolve Dispute
Upon receiving information about the incident, Bhind Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Virendra Chakravarti and Sub-Inspector Nagesh Sharma arrived at the scene with a significant police presence. They engaged directly with the agitated villagers, listening attentively to their grievances.
The officials assured the villagers that such negligence would not be repeated in the future and promised appropriate action in this case. Following the administration's sensitive approach and firm assurances, the villagers' anger subsided.
Situation Returns to Normal
The villagers decided to end their protest and allowed the garbage trucks to proceed to the trenching ground. Normalcy was restored on the Rachedi route, and the operation of garbage vehicles resumed smoothly. Officials surveyed the situation to prevent recurrence of similar incidents.
This event has raised questions about animal management and the operational efficiency of the Municipal Corporation. The administration made an effort to find a peaceful resolution, prioritizing the concerns of the local population. The villagers, in turn, pledged their cooperation with the administration on this issue.
