Labour Cooperation and Migrant Welfare Discussed in Detail

Riyadh | September 8, 2026 – The Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirtivardhan Singh, has successfully concluded his first official four-day visit to Saudi Arabia. The primary objective of this visit was to further strengthen the multifaceted strategic relationship between India and Saudi Arabia and to ensure the welfare and protection of the interests of millions of Indian expatriates residing in the Gulf nation.

During his visit, Minister of State Singh held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi. In this high-level meeting, in-depth discussions were held on further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of labour, manpower, and skill development.

Additionally, Singh met with several other senior diplomats, including Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Envoy for Climate Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir. These discussions reached agreements on enhancing mutual cooperation on crucial global issues such as trade, investment, environmental protection, and climate change.

Singh reviewed the current excellent state of India-Saudi bilateral relations with his Saudi counterpart, Al-Jubeir, and deliberated in detail, especially on aspects of cooperation in climate action.

Focus on Direct Dialogue and Welfare of Migrant Workers

Making the welfare of Indian expatriates a central point of his visit, the Minister of State visited a labour camp in Riyadh. There, he met directly with Indian workers and engaged in dialogue with them. Singh obtained detailed information about their working conditions, health concerns, and other issues of their daily lives.

On this occasion, Kirti Vardhan Singh assured the workers that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is fully committed to the safety and protection of the interests of every citizen living abroad.

Promoting Economic Ties and Emphasizing the '3T' Vision

Sharing his travel experiences on the social media platform 'X', the Minister of State stated that he had meaningful interactions with Indian merchants, entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals in Saudi Arabia. He appreciated the significant role of these communities in strengthening bilateral economic relations between India and Saudi Arabia.

He also discussed maximizing trade opportunities between the two countries. Special emphasis was placed on promoting partnership in the '3T' – namely Trade, Investment, Tourism, and Technology. Singh also interacted with officials of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and encouraged them to pursue Prime Minister Modi's '3T' vision with full diligence and commitment.

Inspiring the Community on the 'Developed India 2047' Vision

During this visit, the Minister of State also inaugurated the 'Integral University Alumni Chapter, Saudi Arabia'. Furthermore, Singh participated in an event organized by the 'All-India Steering Committee' under the patronage of the Indian Embassy.

On this occasion, he inspired the Indian community to actively contribute towards realizing the ambitious vision of 'Developed India 2047'.
