Devastating Accident Claims Lives at Durga Puja Pandal
In a horrific road accident in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday night, three devotees were killed and four others seriously injured when an out-of-control car rammed into a Durga Puja pandal. The incident occurred in the Charan Gahiya Belha village.
Eyewitnesses reported that the speeding car veered uncontrollably and crashed directly into the pandal, where people were seated under a tent watching videos. The car mowed down those present, causing a scene of chaos and panic in the entire area.
Three Dead, Four Injured in Fatal Collision
The victims of this heart-wrenching incident have been identified as Manoj Singh (30 years), Ganesh Kumar (40 years), and Pateshwari (36 years). All three succumbed to their severe injuries during treatment.
Additionally, Chhedi Gupta, W. Gupta, Mukesh Tiwari, and Dhoop Ram sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. Several other individuals also suffered minor injuries.
Allegations of Drunken Driving Emerge
Local residents expressed deep anger and alleged that the car driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. However, this accusation has not yet been officially confirmed by the administration.
An eyewitness, Jitendra Upadhyay, recounted that he had moved away from the pandal just moments before the accident to take a phone call, which potentially saved his life.
Police Apprehend Driver, Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, police from Nagar Kotwali and Dehat Kotwali, along with Circle Officer Abhishek Singh, immediately reached the scene. The police took possession of the car and apprehended the accused driver.
Circle Officer Abhishek Singh stated that the driver is being interrogated and a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress. The incident has cast a pall of grief over Charan Gahiya Belha village, with residents expressing significant outrage. The administration is closely monitoring the situation.
