Two young athletes were discovered dead in the SAI hostel in Kollam on Thursday morning, according to local police. The girls, from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, were noticed missing from the morning training session by other hostel residents around 5 am.

When repeated knocks on their room went unanswered, staff broke the door open and found both girls hanging. Police confirmed that the 15-year-old had spent the previous night in the room of the 17-year-old trainee.

The 17-year-old was an athletics trainee in Class 12, while the 15-year-old was a kabaddi player in Class 10. Police have stated that no suicide note has been found so far, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
