Major Success for Vindhyachal Police in Vehicle Theft Crackdown

In a significant breakthrough aimed at curbing vehicle thefts in Mirzapur district, the Vindhyachal police have arrested two notorious individuals involved in the racket. The operation, conducted as part of a special campaign, led to the recovery of a stolen Apache motorcycle.

The arrested accused confessed that the motorcycle was stolen from Varanasi and they were attempting to sell it on the day of their apprehension. This action was taken in accordance with the directives issued by Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik to strengthen law and order and curb criminal activities, especially those related to vehicle theft and sale.

Under the able leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (City) and Circle Officer (City), a police team from Police Station Vindhyachal acted upon credible information to make this crucial arrest. This development marks a vital step towards tightening the noose on vehicle thief gangs operating in the district.

Thieves Apprehended with Stolen Apache Motorcycle

The incident occurred near Ghamhapur on August 31, 2026, when police received highly reliable information that two individuals were approaching the Deorhawa Baba Ashram on a stolen Apache motorcycle. Recognizing the importance of the tip, police immediately planned and executed a swift operation.

Acting promptly on the information, the Vindhyachal police laid a cordon and raided the spot, successfully apprehending the two accused riding the Apache motorcycle. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajbabu Verma, son of Munna Verma (resident of Sabri Harijan Basti, Thana Kotwali Katra, Mirzapur), and Parvez, son of Yusuf (resident of Imambara, Thana Kotwali Katra, Mirzapur).

Both accused are approximately 22 years old, indicating their involvement in criminal activities at a young age. The police recovered an Apache motorcycle without a license plate from the scene, which was later confirmed to be stolen during the investigation.

A case has been registered at Police Station Vindhyachal under FIR No. 246/2026, invoking sections 317(2) and 317(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The arrested accused were presented in court after completing the necessary legal procedures, and have since been remanded to judicial custody.

Criminal Histories of Accused Uncovered

Further investigation and interrogation revealed a disturbing criminal history for one of the accused, Rajbabu Verma. He faces multiple serious cases registered at Police Station Kotwali Katra, Mirzapur, including charges under sections 379/411 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for theft and receiving stolen property.

His record also includes cases under sections 115(2)/117/118(1)/3(5)/324(4)/351(3)/352 of the BNS, related to criminal misconduct and violence, and under the SC/ST Act (Prevention of Atrocities Act) for offenses concerning Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Additionally, he has cases registered under BNS, IPC, GRP Mirzapur, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The other accused, Parvez, also possesses a significant criminal record. Cases against him at Kotwali Katra, Mirzapur, include charges under section 356 IPC (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft), the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, and sections of IPC related to housebreaking and theft.

The extensive criminal histories of both individuals suggest they are part of a notorious gang of vehicle thieves operating in the district, responsible for various criminal activities.

Police Team's Vigilance and Future Strategy

This significant arrest was made in the early hours of August 31, 2026, near Ghamhapur, around 00:04 AM, highlighting the police's promptness and the effectiveness of their informant network. The commendable operation was executed by a dedicated police team from Police Station Vindhyachal, including Sub-Inspectors Sushil Kumar Tripathi, Vijay Shankar Tiwari, Santosh Upadhyay, and Ganesh Pandey, along with Constables Hemant Lal and Pradeep Rajput.
