Two Arrested in Bareilly for Selling Counterfeit Medicines Posing as Doctors
Police in Bareilly busted a fake medicine racket, arresting two individuals who posed as doctors and sold counterfeit drugs online.

Fake Doctor Racket Busted in Bareilly
The Izazatnagar police in Bareilly have exposed a gang that was posing as doctors and selling counterfeit medicines to people through online advertisements. Acting on a tip, the police raided a fake call center operating from a house in Rajiv Enclave Colony, leading to the arrest of two accused, Samiruddin and Yusuf.
One member of the gang, Ilyas Khan, managed to escape the raid and is currently on the run. The police are actively searching for him. According to the police, the arrested individuals were running deceptive advertisements on Instagram under the name 'Hubgal Hand Jadi-Buti' (Hubgal Hand Herbs).
Modus Operandi and Materials Seized
The accused would purchase raw materials from the market, fill them into empty capsules, and then affix counterfeit wrappers before selling them online. During interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed that they sourced raw materials from Saharanpur and Moradabad and also operated a shop in the Devraniya town.
Notably, they did not possess any valid licenses for trading such medicines and had been involved in this illegal business for approximately a year. The Izazatnagar police seized a significant amount of incriminating material from the premises during the raid.
Seized Items and Legal Action
The seized items include 12 mobile phones, one laptop, six computers, three printers, eight monitors, one scanner, keyboards, and mice. Additionally, the police recovered six chequebooks from different banks, 14 ATM cards, approximately ₹1,90,900 in cash, 85 packets of counterfeit medicines, and forged licenses.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) vide M.A. No. 0952/2026. The arrested individuals, Samiruddin and Yusuf, have been presented before the court as per legal procedures.
The police team, led by Station House Officer Suresh Chandra Gautam, played a crucial role in this operation. The police are intensifying their search for the absconding gang member, Ilyas Khan, and are working to identify other individuals involved in this network and investigate potential hideouts. Authorities believe the accused divided their earnings equally among themselves.
