Ram Rajya and Democratic Principles

Gariaband District, August 31, 2026 - During the 529th Tulsidas Birth Anniversary celebrations in the villages of Baherabuda and Kanesar, renowned litterateur Dr. Munnilal Devdas asserted that the Ram Rajya envisioned by Sant Tulsidas was fundamentally based on the principles of democracy.

He cited the Ramcharit Manas as an example, where, after becoming king, Lord Rama granted his subjects the right to voice their concerns without fear. Dr. Devdas referenced a verse from the Ramcharit Manas: 'Jo aniti kachu bhashau bhai. Tau mohe barjahu bhay bisrai।।' He explained that this means if the king speaks unjustly, the subjects can admonish him without fear, highlighting the citizen's right to caution their ruler, a core tenet of a democratic system.

Relevance of Ram Rajya in Indian Politics

Dr. Devdas, founder of the District Manas Sangh and recipient of President and Governor awards, expressed concern over the current state of the Indian Parliament. He suggested that if the principles from the Ramcharit Manas were followed, Parliament would not witness excessive disruptions, and the concept of 'Ram Rajya' in India could become a reality.

He also shared an interesting anecdote related to the naming of Baherabuda village. The event was attended by many dignitaries including Rajim MLA Rohit Sahu and Professor Dr. Sanjeev Karmakar, State President of Sarva Samaj Samanvay Mahasabha, who also shared their thoughts.

Demand for Residential University and Announcements

During the occasion, officials from the Sarva Samaj Samanvay Mahasabha presented a demand letter to MLA Rohit Sahu for the establishment of a skill-based residential university in Gariaband district. The MLA supported the initiative, calling the university a 'maker of destiny for the youth'.

Further announcements were made regarding the construction of a Sarva Samaj Samrasta Bhavan and a Manas Bhavan, alongside the inauguration of a tin shed. Attendees included State General Secretary Pratap Mohanty, District President Anil Chandrakar, District Panchayat Vice President Lalima Paras Thakur, Sarpanch Anita Dhruv, and various other officials and a large number of villagers.

Despite the rain, attendees enjoyed the Ram Katha until 1 AM. The program was jointly conducted by Domar Sahu (District Manas Sangh Treasurer), Tikeshwar Sinha (Block President), and Yashwant Bhediya.
