Trump “Disappointed and Angry” After Tense Exchange With Saudi Crown Prince Over Israel Normalization: Report

US President Donald Trump was left “disappointed and angry” after a tense discussion with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) regarding normalization with Israel during their White House meeting last week, according to a report by Israel’s Channel 12 on Tuesday.

The report, citing two senior American officials and an additional source familiar with the meeting, said Trump pressed MBS to move forward immediately with normalization of ties with Israel.

However, the crown prince reportedly pushed back, explaining that while he is not opposed in principle, strong anti-Israel sentiment in Saudi Arabia following the Gaza war makes it impossible to proceed at this time.

Although the conversation remained polite, a senior US official told Channel 12 that Trump’s reaction was “disappointed and angry” over the refusal.

The official added that MBS did not rule out normalization entirely. He left the door open for a future agreement, but stressed that a two-state solution remains a key Saudi requirement — a position he publicly stated during the White House visit.

A senior White House official reiterated Trump’s broader goal:

“With the collapse of Iran’s nuclear program and the war in Gaza over, it is important to President Trump that all countries in the Middle East join the Abraham Accords to advance peace in the region.”

The Saudi Embassy in Washington declined to comment, while the White House repeated Trump’s call for all Middle Eastern nations to join the accords.
