‘Train to Busan’ Star Don Lee to Make Bollywood Debut Opposite Prabhas in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit

Korean superstar Lee Dong-seok, popularly known as Don Lee (or Ma Dong-seok), is reportedly set to make his Bollywood debut in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-awaited cop thriller Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead role.

According to reports from Korean media outlets, Don Lee — best known internationally for his breakout performance in Train to Busan and his Marvel debut in Eternals — has been cast as the main antagonist in Spirit.

“This film, titled Spirit, is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and stars Prabhas, famous for Baahubali, in a dark-toned detective crime drama. It is only known that Ma Dong-seok’s role in this film is a character who stands in opposition to the one played by Prabhas,” the Korean drama community Muko posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Reports also mention that Don Lee was recently spotted boarding a flight to India, hinting that preparations for the project are underway. His social media updates have fueled speculation that filming may begin soon.

Earlier this month, the makers of Spirit released an audio teaser to celebrate Prabhas’s birthday. The teaser introduced Prabhas as a former IPS officer who lands in jail under the watch of a tough jailer, played by Prakash Raj.

The film also stars Triptii Dimri, marking her first collaboration with Prabhas and second project with Vanga, producer Bhushan Kumar, and Pranay Reddy Vanga after Animal.

Initially, Deepika Padukone was considered for the female lead, but she was later replaced due to reported creative disagreements.

Currently in pre-production, Spirit is expected to go on floors later this year and will be mounted on a massive scale, continuing Vanga’s streak of intense, character-driven dramas after Kabir Singh and Animal.

Meanwhile, Don Lee was last seen in the Korean action-horror drama Holy Night: Demon Hunters and continues to be one of South Korea’s most bankable action stars.
