Torrential Rains Batter Bareilly, Disrupting Life

Bareilly district has been severely impacted by continuous torrential rains over the past several days, disrupting normal life. In response to the escalating disaster, the district administration has heightened its alert levels and accelerated relief, rescue, and damage assessment operations.

Administration Mobilizes Teams for Assessment and Relief

Under the directives of the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Tehsildars, and special teams from the Revenue Department are continuously visiting the affected areas. These teams are meticulously evaluating the extent of damage, including collapsed houses, crop destruction, livestock loss, and the widespread waterlogging crisis.

Two Fatalities Confirmed Due to Extreme Rainfall

The heavy rainfall has tragically resulted in the confirmed deaths of two individuals in the district. In Gorakhnathpur village of Mirganj tehsil, a woman named Phool Devi tragically lost her life when her tiled roof house suddenly collapsed. Similarly, in Mirzapur Jagir village of Nawabganj tehsil, Kripal Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment after being electrocuted.

Immediate Relief Provided to Bereaved Families

The administration has initiated the process of providing immediate relief amounts as per regulations to the families of the deceased in both incidents. This swift action underscores the commitment to support those most affected by the tragedy.

Assessment of Damaged Houses and Crops Underway

According to preliminary reports from various tehsils, a total of 39 houses have been reported damaged to varying degrees. Revenue department teams are physically verifying these claims to ensure that assistance reaches the genuine victims.

Compensation for Crop Losses Assured

Additional District Magistrate, Santosh Kumar Singh, stated that farmers whose crops have suffered a loss of 33 percent or more will be provided compensation according to government standards. This measure aims to mitigate the economic impact on the agricultural community.

Water Drainage and Livestock Safety Measures Implemented

To combat the problem of waterlogging, the administration has installed modern pumps in affected areas for drainage. Furthermore, robust arrangements are being made in cow shelters for adequate fodder, clean water, and comprehensive security for cattle, aiming to prevent any loss of human or animal life.
