Tomorrowland confirms first Asia edition in Thailand this December

Tomorrowland, one of the world’s most influential electronic dance music festivals, will stage its first-ever full-scale Asian edition in Thailand from 11 to 13 December. The event will take place in the beach city of Pattaya, marking the brand’s largest geographic expansion since its founding in 2005.

Organisers said Thailand was selected for its rising global profile in music, innovation, and experience-led tourism. The move positions the country as a major hub for large-format international festivals in Asia.

What makes this edition different

While Tomorrowland has hosted individual events in Asian cities before, this will be the first complete festival on the continent, built to the same scale and production standards as its flagship Belgium edition. The original event is known for its elaborate themed stages, top-tier DJ line-ups, and immersive visual design.

Organisers expect more than 50,000 attendees per day across the three-day run in Pattaya.

Economic impact and long-term plan

Thai media report that the government has signed a five-year hosting agreement with the festival. Officials estimate the partnership could generate 21 billion baht over that period through tourism, hospitality, and event-related spending.

Tomorrowland CEO Bruno Vanwelsenaers said the Asia expansion is a long-term commitment, describing the Thailand edition as the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.

Major outcome: Tomorrowland will operate a full-scale festival in Asia for the first time, transforming Thailand into a major destination on the global EDM circuit.

Why Thailand and why now

Thailand has rapidly strengthened its position in the international live music market. In recent years, it has hosted global events such as Electric Daisy Carnival and Creamfields, welcomed major K-pop tours including Blackpink, and built a reputation through its homegrown festival Wonderfruit, which attracts tens of thousands annually.

For the government, the deal aligns with a broader strategy to expand experience-driven tourism and attract high-spending international visitors.
