Tragedy Strikes Kanawar Village During Ganesh Immersion

A heart-wrenching incident occurred on Friday evening in Kanawar village, under the Umri police station area of Bhind district. Three teenagers who had gone to the Quarry River for Ganesh idol immersion were swept away in deep water, casting a pall of grief over the village.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 5 PM when villagers and a group of youths gathered at the riverbank for the immersion ceremony. During the immersion, three youths – Krishna Bhadauria, Abhijeet Bhadauria, and Madan Bhadauria, aged between 16 and 17 – ventured into a deep section of the river.

The elevated water levels and strong currents caused them to lose their balance and begin drowning. Local villagers immediately attempted a rescue, but their efforts were thwarted by the powerful flow of the river.

Safety Concerns Amidst Ongoing Rescue Operations

Onlookers at the scene lamented the lack of security arrangements, stating that neither police personnel nor divers were present at the immersion site for safety purposes. Upon receiving information, Umri Station House Officer Brijendra Singh Sengar arrived at the spot with police force.

SDOP Ravindra Vaskle also assessed the situation and began overseeing the rescue operations. The strong currents in the river are posing significant challenges to the search efforts.

Given the circumstances, the administration has promptly summoned a specialized rescue team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). A comprehensive search operation will commence upon the team's arrival, aiming to locate the missing teenagers.

Village in Mourning, Administration on Alert

News of the tragedy during Ganesh immersion has spread throughout Kanawar village, creating a somber atmosphere. A large number of villagers have gathered at the riverbank, anxiously awaiting updates on the rescue operations and praying for the safe return of their loved ones.

The administration, recognizing the gravity of the situation, has intensified security measures along the riverbank to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure that rescue operations are not hindered.
