They Call Him OG Crosses Rs 200 Crore Globally; Jolly LLB 3 Nears Rs 90 Crore in India

The Emraan Hashmi and Pawan Kalyan-starrer They Call Him OG has become the first film in Pawan Kalyan’s career to cross the Rs 200-crore mark worldwide at the end of its opening weekend, according to trade reports. The Telugu action film is also approaching Rs 150 crore domestically, data from the industry tracking platform Sacnilk shows.

Directed by Sujeeth, the film earned Rs 21 crore nett during paid previews, followed by a robust Rs 63.75 crore nett on its opening day. Collections moderated over the following days, with Friday and Saturday bringing in Rs 18.75 crore nett and Rs 18.5 crore nett, respectively. Sunday added another Rs 18.5 crore nett, taking the four-day domestic total to Rs 140.50 crore nett.

The film revolves around Hashmi’s Omi Bhau, who challenges Pawan Kalyan’s character Ojas Gambheera a.k.a OG to take control of the criminal underworld. Marking Hashmi’s debut in Telugu cinema, the film is produced by D.V.V. Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under the DVV Entertainment banner, and features Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy in key roles.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi-starrer Jolly LLB 3 has crossed the Rs 90-crore mark domestically. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the courtroom comedy opened on September 19 with Rs 12.5 crore nett and earned Rs 74 crore nett in its first week. The film collected Rs 3.75 crore nett on its second Friday, Rs 6.25 crore nett on Saturday, and Rs 6.50 crore nett on Sunday, bringing the ten-day domestic total to Rs 90.50 crore nett.

In the film, Akshay Kumar plays Jagdishwar ‘Jolly’ Mishra, while Arshad Warsi is Jagdish ‘Jolly’ Tyagi, both of whom face off in court before Judge Sundar Laal Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla). The movie also features Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao in significant roles.
