Tejashwi Yadav Promises ₹30,000 Annual Aid for Women, Expanded Support for Farmers

RJD leader and Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday announced a one-time annual financial aid of ₹30,000 for women and enhanced support for farmers if his coalition comes to power in Bihar.

Addressing a press conference as campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections ended, Yadav unveiled the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’, which guarantees monthly transfers of ₹2,500 to women from financially weaker and backward communities.

The announcement came a day after the Nitish Kumar-led government credited ₹10,000 each into the accounts of 25 lakh women under its entrepreneurship scheme—widely viewed as a counter to the RJD’s women-centric pitch.

Projecting confidence of victory, Yadav said, “The public is in a mood for change and will throw out the ruling NDA.”

For farmers, he promised free electricity for irrigation and bonuses of ₹300 per quintal on paddy and ₹400 per quintal on wheat over and above the MSP.

He also reiterated the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for government employees and assured that nurses and health workers would be posted within 70 km of their home districts.

Additionally, Yadav pledged public representative status and honorariums for PACS managers.

Polling for the first phase of the Bihar elections will take place on November 6, with Tuesday marking the last day of campaigning.
