RJD Leader Arrested During NEET Protest

Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has been arrested during the Bihar bandh called in protest against the alleged NEET exam paper leak and police action on protesting students. Patna Police arrested him late Saturday evening and presented him before a magistrate, who ordered his 14 days of judicial custody.

The incident occurred when Tej Pratap Yadav was protesting alongside students at Ramgulam Chowk in Patna, supporting the Bihar bandh against the NEET paper leak. Police intercepted and detained him on Exhibition Road while he was marching with other protestors from Ramgulam Chowk towards Dak Bungalow intersection.

NEET Paper Leak Sparks Widespread Discontent

Allegations of irregularities and paper leaks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) have triggered widespread dissatisfaction among students and political parties nationwide. Student protests against the issue are receiving support from various opposition parties.

In Bihar, the RJD and Left student organizations had called for a state-wide bandh on Saturday over the matter. During the bandh, protests were organized by students and Left organizations in several districts across Bihar. Clashes between protestors and police were reported at some locations, raising concerns about law and order.

Tej Pratap Yadav's Involvement and Custody

Tej Pratap Yadav's active participation in these protests has further politicized the issue. The police took Tej Pratap Yadav into custody for allegedly disrupting public order and violating laws during the protest.

During his appearance before the magistrate, the court ordered his 14-day judicial custody. The arrest has fueled discussions in political circles, with the RJD defending it as an attempt to raise issues concerning students and the youth.
