Teachers' Absence Cripples Education System at Barahwa School in Balrampur

Disarray at Barahwa Primary School

The primary school in the village of Barahwa, within the Harraiya Satgharwa education block of Balrampur district, is in a state of disarray. Villagers have raised serious allegations that the school's headmaster, Sunil Kumar, has been absent for the past month, leading to a complete halt in teaching activities.

Adding to the problem, Shiksha Mitra (educational assistant) Neelam Srivastava was also found to be absent. The continuous absence of teachers has directly impacted student attendance.

Plummeting Student Attendance and Mid-Day Meal Scheme Disruption

Despite 42 children being enrolled in the school, only four students were present on the premises during an inspection. This situation raises serious questions about the future of these children.

Another concerning aspect of the school's dilapidated condition is the complete suspension of the mid-day meal scheme for the past month. The lack of meals is also contributing to the children's disinterest in attending school.

Staff Acknowledge Irregularities

Manoj Srivastava, a Shiksha Mitra present at the school, acknowledged the extremely low student attendance relative to enrollment numbers and confirmed the suspension of the mid-day meal. He also admitted to the headmaster's consistent absence from the school.

Villagers Appeal to Education Department

Villagers have expressed deep concern over the teachers' negligence and the lack of basic facilities at the school. They stated that such mismanagement is jeopardizing the educational future of the children.

Local residents are hoping for intervention from education department officials to ensure regular teaching and learning at the school and to immediately restore the mid-day meal arrangement.
