Food Safety Department Conducts Surprise Inspections
In a crackdown against food adulteration, the Food Safety Department in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, carried out surprise inspections of several prominent eateries and restaurants. These actions were taken following explicit directives from Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal to ensure the quality of food items.
Hygiene Lapses Lead to Notice
During the inspection, serious hygiene irregularities were found at Anand Bhojnalay, prompting the issuance of a notice. In compliance with special instructions from the Food and Drug Administration, Madhya Pradesh, the Guna administration has escalated its campaign against adulterers.
The inspection team visited three key eateries on Railway Station Road: Anand Bhojnalay, Jainshree Bhojnalay, and Shri Ram Balaji Bhojnalay. At Anand Bhojnalay, the cleanliness conditions within the premises were found to be unsatisfactory. Consequently, a notice was issued to the operator under Section 32 of the Food Safety Act, demanding immediate corrective measures within a stipulated timeframe.
Food Samples Sent for Testing
The department collected samples of lentils and 'churma laddoo' from Anand Bhojnalay and Jainshree Bhojnalay, along with samples of cooking oil from both establishments. A paneer sample was also collected from Dominos Pizza Restaurant on AB Road. All collected samples have been sent to the State Food Laboratory in Bhopal for further analysis.
Statutory action will be taken based on the test reports received from the laboratory. Collector Kanyal had previously instructed departmental officials during a review meeting to take stringent action against any form of food adulteration. This administration-led initiative prioritizes public health and aims to provide safe food to citizens. The department has assured that similar inspection campaigns at various food establishments across the city will continue regularly to strictly enforce food safety standards.
