Suriya's 'Vishwanath and Sons' Roars at Box Office

The highly anticipated film 'Vishwanath and Sons', starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju , has made an impressive debut at the box office, grossing a substantial Rs 27.51 crore worldwide on its opening day. The Venky Atluri directorial, which explores a family-oriented subject, has resonated well with audiences, marking a significant opening for Suriya following his previous release, 'Karuppu'.

According to industry reports, the film garnered a net collection of Rs 15.15 crore within India on its first day. The domestic gross collection stood at Rs 17.51 crore, with an additional Rs 10.00 crore earned from overseas markets. These figures collectively propelled the movie to its impressive worldwide gross figure of Rs 27.51 crore.

India Box Office Performance

'Vishwanath and Sons' was showcased across 5,034 shows in India, achieving an overall occupancy rate of 42.2% on its opening day. The film's performance was further broken down by its language versions. The Tamil version contributed significantly to the domestic net collection, earning Rs 9.15 crore, while the Telugu version added another Rs 6.00 crore.

Tamil and Telugu Versions Show Strong Occupancy

Both the Tamil and Telugu versions of 'Vishwanath and Sons' demonstrated robust audience engagement. The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 41.38% throughout the day, with night shows showing a remarkable turnout at 62.69%. Morning shows had a 29.85% occupancy, followed by afternoon at 33.54% and evening at 36.38%.

The Telugu version performed slightly better, registering an overall occupancy of 52.35%. Night shows for the Telugu version were particularly strong, reaching 67.33%. Special premium formats also saw excellent reception; HDR by Bar screenings achieved 98.50% overall occupancy, and EPIQ shows recorded 96.33% occupancy, indicating strong audience preference for enhanced viewing experiences.

State-wise Collections Highlight Tamil Nadu's Dominance

Tamil Nadu emerged as the leading contributor to the film's domestic gross collection, with the state alone generating Rs 7.25 crore on the opening day. The combined collections from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were also substantial, amounting to Rs 6.75 crore. Karnataka added Rs 1.80 crore, while Kerala contributed Rs 1.50 crore. The rest of India accounted for the remaining Rs 21 lakhs, bringing the total state-wise gross collection to Rs 17.51 crore.
