Strict Action on School Vehicles in Farrukhabad, 20 Seized, 24 Fined

Intensive Enforcement Drive for School Vehicle Safety in Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad witnessed a rigorous enforcement campaign today targeting unsafe and non-compliant school vehicles transporting children in the Fatehgarh area. Spearheaded by the Deputy Transport Commissioner (Region), Kanpur, Shri Ramratan Soni, the operation involved thorough inspections of tempos, e-rickshaws, and private vehicles.

The primary objective of this initiative was to guarantee the safety standards of school vehicles and safeguard the lives of students. Key members of the inspection team included RTO-Enforcement, Kanpur Shri Rahul Srivastava, CO-Traffic Shri Abhay Verma, ARTO-Enforcement, Farrukhabad Shri Subhash Rajput, Station House Officer, Fatehgarh Shri Tej Singh, and Traffic Sub-Inspector Shri Om Prakash Pandey. The team conducted checks around various schools, including PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya and RRC Fatehgarh in the Cantt area.

Scrutiny of School Vehicle Safety Standards

During the checking drive, officials meticulously examined vehicles such as auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, and Maruti vans for their fitness, permits, insurance, and other essential documentation. Additionally, instances of vehicles carrying more students than their seating capacity were observed, posing a significant safety concern.

As a result of this intensive campaign, a total of 24 vehicles were challaned and 20 school vehicles were seized for violating regulations. This stringent action underscores the commitment to improving safety for young commuters.

Previous Actions and Fine Collection

The Transport Department of Farrukhabad has also been conducting consistent campaigns against unfit school vehicles in the district over the past two months. During this period, 51 school vehicles were challaned and 23 were impounded. Approximately ₹4.53 lakh was collected as compounding fees from these actions.

Furthermore, 10 private vehicles used for transporting students also faced challans and seizure. Seven vehicles were penalized for overloading students. Notably, the registration marks of 22 vehicles found to be non-existent during inspections have been cancelled, a significant administrative measure.

Campaign to Continue Across Districts

This intensive checking campaign is set to continue in the future. The Transport Department has clarified that teams from Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Auraiya, and Kanpur Nagar will also participate in this campaign, with similar rigorous actions planned in other districts. The overarching aim is to ensure that all school vehicles adhere to prescribed safety standards, providing a secure travel experience for children.
