In an interview with The National, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that a new Stranger Things project is already in development — one that will feature an entirely new cast of characters and take place in a different era.
A Finale With a Hidden Clue
According to Ross Duffer, the final episode contains a brief scene that offers an early hint about what lies ahead for the franchise.
“There’s one small scene in the finale that gives a hint as to what the spin-off will be,” he said, adding that observant viewers may catch it on first watch.
Matt Duffer jokingly questioned the decision to reveal this detail publicly, but Ross explained that it was meant as a reward for attentive fans — a quiet bridge between the end of one story and the beginning of another.
Netflix has not yet announced when the spin-off will be released, though industry observers expect further details to emerge after the final episode airs.
A Different Era, New Characters
The Duffer brothers stressed that the upcoming spin-off will be intentionally disconnected from the original storyline.
