SP Workers Booked for Protest Against Election Commissioner in Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad | October 7, 2026 - Police have taken action against Samajwadi Party workers in Farrukhabad following a protest, slogan-shouting, effigy burning, and road blockade targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. A case has been filed against five named party workers and unknown individuals.

The incident, captured on video and through photography, occurred on October 6, 2026, around 12:15 PM in the Karnalganj Chowki area. Sub-Inspector Moolendra Singh and Constable Amardeep, on duty, received information about the approaching SP workers chanting slogans from under the Bholapur overbridge towards Ambedkar Tiraha.

Allegations of Unauthorized Traffic Disruption

Upon arrival, police found Ayush Yadav, Anurag Yadav, Arvind Yadav, Sanju Yadav, and Ravi Yadav, along with others, engaged in the demonstration. It is alleged that the protesters made derogatory remarks against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar without obtaining permission from any competent authority.

The protesters' congregation on the main road led to a complete disruption of traffic, causing significant inconvenience to schoolchildren, women, and other commuters. The situation created a potential security risk.

Effigy Burning Creates Panic, Further Action Underway

The burning of an effigy during the protest resulted in a chaotic atmosphere at the scene. According to the police, the use of flammable materials posed a serious threat to the safety of those present.

Following the incident, the Kotwali Fatehgarh police registered a case under relevant sections based on the complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Moolendra Singh. The police promptly cleared the road and restored traffic flow.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings Continue

Kotwal Fatehgarh Vijay Singh stated that an investigation is ongoing based on the evidence concerning the effigy burning and road obstruction. Police personnel had reached the spot to control the situation and ensure the smooth resumption of traffic.

The police are continuing with further legal proceedings in this matter.
