Special Campaign Against Tobacco Use Launched

A special campaign against tobacco consumption was organized at the Guna District Hospital premises, resulting in a ₹400 fine for six individuals. This action was taken under the National Tobacco Control Programme as per the directives of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajkumar Rishivar.

Enforcement and Counseling Drive

A team of health officials, led by District Nodal Officer Vinita Soni, inspected the new building and medical wards of the district hospital. During the inspection, a total of ₹400 in fines was collected from six individuals found consuming tobacco within the premises. The campaign extended beyond penalties, focusing on raising awareness about the severe health consequences of tobacco use.

Support for Quitting Tobacco

Health experts provided individual counseling to tobacco users, motivating them to quit the deadly habit. Those willing to quit were directed to the Tobacco-Free Addiction Center located within the hospital. Here, under expert supervision, they were offered Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to help them overcome addiction more easily.

Objective and Future Outlook

The primary objective of this drive was to effectively curb tobacco consumption and encourage citizens to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Health workers including Murari Lal, Rekha Sharma, Shailendra Singh, Adil Khan, and Sadiq Khan significantly contributed to the campaign's success.

Continued Vigilance in Public Spaces

The district administration has clearly stated that similar monitoring and enforcement actions will continue in the future to completely prevent tobacco use in public spaces. The aim is to maintain a safe and tobacco-free environment in crucial locations like hospitals, ensuring clean air for patients and healthcare workers and reducing the spread of smoking-related diseases.
